what is a mt-bc?
A "MT-BC" is a Board Certified Music Therapist, meaning :
They hold a bachelors degree or higher from an AMTA (American Music Therapy Association) approved University, in which their studies were focused on musical, clinical, and music therapy ground-work.
They completed a 1200-hour supervised clinical internship post-undergraduate work with a professional, Board Certified Music Therapist.
They studied for & successfully passed the national board certification exam given by CBMT (Certification Board for Music Therapists).
They are required to engage in continuing education, which could include conducting research, presenting at conferences, or taking specialty/ higher education courses, to maintain their credentialed licensure.
They follow and practice by AMTA's "Standards of Clinical Practice," "Code of Ethics," and "Professional Competencies."
They provide evidence-based music therapy.
